Do you have any comments - good or bad - about Matalan?

Do you have any comments - good or bad - about Matalan? If so, would you please email them to us and we will forward them to the new Manager, Andy. We were hoping that Matalan would contribute /sponsor something for our community but the impression given was they provide the store for us. Andy said Cricklewood is their No. 1 store and the majority of their custom is local - even more reason we feel that it would be nice to give something back and / or at least maintain their site which is a large part of our area.

Read on for more information on what NW2 has been working with Matalan and Thames Water.

We are meeting with Thames Water in St Michaels Road in mid August and, again, if any residents have any issues they would like us to raise, please let us know.

Over the past year, NorthWestTwo have had numerous meetings with Matalan regarding the following:
- Litter on boundary of their premises (particularly in shrubbery) and Temple / Edgware Roads
* Brent have installed an additional bin in the Temple Road entrance to help this problem. Previous Manager, in conjunction with Brent Streetcare had cleaned all this up and now someone is dumping car parts, discarded dvd player and, of course, litter.

- High level lights on side of building in Temple Road not working for over 6 months
* Lighting in that section of Temple Road is not good enough. Cllr Hayley Matthews arranged for Brent to review this and the decision was it meets standards. We still do not agree - anyone else like to comment and we will pass this to Cllr Matthews. If and when Matalan ever repair their lights it will help but it will be on a timer and go off around midnight.

- Community Notice Board on their property in Temple Road side
* Poster casing would apparently cost £300 and is too much for Matalan to spend.

- Entering the Brent in Bloom Neighbourhood Award category
* NorthWestTwo won 1st prize without their support.

- Maintenance of grass and shrubbery
* Previous Manager had under control but now Temple Road side is being neglected.

- Removal of cardboard in cages in carpark because of fire risk
* Matalan have dealt with this issue as well as all the flytipping they have to contend with.
